Micaela was a hero of the Hispano-American independence and leader of the indigenous revolution. She was the wife and essential advisor of Túpac Amaru. Her actions made her a legend and symbol of the fight against oppression and colonial exploitation. Micaela Bastidas was executed along with her husband, Túpac Amaru, and their two older children in the Plaza de Armas in Cuzco after being captured and tortured.

Many stories have been told about this couple; their image was so strong and important that after killing them, they dismembered their bodies and buried their parts in the most rebellious cities of the viceroyalty as a warning sign against any acts of an uprising. Then a legend was born, which states that as years go by, their parts will one day rejoin and win the fight.
