He was an American Christian minister known for his contribution to the civil rights movement in the 1960s. MLK not only served as an activist but also became the most visible leader and representative in the fight against segregation and discrimination in the United States. MLK was killed in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 4, 1968.
“I was eight years old when they premiered the series King (1978). I remember crying a lot, like the child I was. I recently saw it again while in the US for the day of its anniversary, and again, cried like a child. Beyond the popular TV series’, we really did enjoy great cultural moments in the 70s. This series delved into issues of racism, which, unfortunately, we continue to live to this day. Martin Luther King made a strong impression on my childhood and enriched it with social values. I highly recommend watching ‘King’, written and directed by Abby Mann, starring Paul Winfield, a great actor. ” –Cherman
